A lorry driver has died after becoming trapped by his own truck at a Doncaster distribution centre.

At 1.20pm on 8 June, the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service was called to the Next distribution centre in Armthorpe where a 46-year-old HGV driver had been trapped between his cab door and a gatepost.

An SYFR statement reads: "It is believed the incident happened when the man, who had got out of his artic to check in at the entrance gates, ran back to his vehicle after realising he had left the handbrake off. He was taken to hospital but sadly he died as a result of his injuries."

South Yorkshire Police also attended the scene but an inquiry into the industrial accident is being dealt with by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
