Manheim is set to move all its HGV auction sales online next February.

The auction house said its online sales of HGVs have been growing each year and the move will mean the company can continue to offer a cost-effective channel to service its customers at the same time as strengthening its online market share.

Baz Slatter, commercial director at Manheim, said the shift will also position Manheim as a forward thinking and innovative leader in the HGV remarketing sector. He added: “There is strong demand for our online HGV sales, which continues to attract the highest buyer audience base compared to any other vehicle type we auction and are also continuing to grow each year.

“As a logical and practical next step in responding to our customer’s evolving needs, we are working through a proposal to move all our HGV sales online. This will take effect in February 2018.” In January 2017 Manheim opened a new six-acre auction centre in Rowley Drive, Coventry for HGV, plant and trailer sales.

At the HGV and trailer sale launch event, about two thirds of the buyers joined the event remotely via Simulcast - Manheim’s online bidding platform. Between them they registered 1,200 individual bids and secured 47% of the entry.
