Martrans Trailers is urging haulage firms to be on the look-out for 40 brand-new Bridgestone wheel assemblies, worth £11,500, stolen from its premises last Saturday night (20 September).

The thiefs also stole six 215/75R-17.5 Continental HTR2 assemblies worth £900.

The tyres stolen were super single Bridgestone 385/65 R22.5 R168 units fitted to 10 stud steel rims with centre knaves. They were stolen overnight from a secure outside storage facility at the trailer manufacturer’s Blyborough, Lincolnshire facility.

General manager Morris Abbott is asking all local haulage firms to get in touch should anyone try to sell them any tyres matching the above description.

He told Commercialmotor.com that the company has been targeted four times by thieves in the past two years, with items such as aluminium sheeting, as well as tyres taken from a new trailer awaiting delivery stolen from its premises.

“We are a small trailer manufacturer,” Abbott said. “And this is actually putting jobs at risk.”

He explained that insurance costs and low margins in the sector mean the impact of stolen goods can really affect the business’s livelihood.
