Maxi Haulage is investing £2.5m in upgrading its fleet of trucks and trailers for general haulage and distribution across the UK and Ireland.

The company, based in Irvine, Ayrshire, has taken delivery of 18 new trucks in the past year and has 11 on order for April delivery. The vehicles are a mixture of tractor units, 4x2 and 6x2 rigids - the majority are Volvos and the remainder Renaults.

Maxi also has bought 60 curtainsider trailers and has two step frames on order, in addition to investing in its forklift fleet. This brings its trailer fleet to 600 and follows the purchase of 40 curtainsiders last year.

Maxi operates from depots in Irvine, Bellshill, Immingham, Warrington, Wrexham, Birmingham, Warwick and Dublin. As well as investing in vehicles, the company has employed 10 additional drivers in England for its Irish service over the past year and has undertaken a series of fuel management and training initiatives.
