The MC Hammers, the technician team from MC Truck and Bus in Thurrock, Essex, failed to crack the top three in the Volvo International Service Training Awards (VISTA) on 26 June – loosing out to Estonian champions Viies Ratas (which translates as fifth wheel).
VISTA, which was held in Curitiba, Brazil, saw 40 teams of four automotive technicians from across the Volvo truck and Volvo Bus global networks with MC Truck and Bus flying the flag for Britain. Over 19,700 participants entered and the four members of the MC Hammers are classified among the top 1% of technicians across the globe.
Claes Nilsson, President of Volvo Trucks, said: “Motivated service technicians are among the most important success factors for our workshops and customers and the reason why we invest so heavily in continuous training and competence development.”
VISTA originally started in 1957 as a competition for Volvo's mechanics in Sweden and has since become an international event. The competition, held every two years, is open to all workshop employees within the Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses global service network.
