MC Truck and Bus has opened a shot-blasting facility at its bodyshop in Hythe, Kent.

The independent Volvo Truck and Bus and Isuzu Truck UK dealer for the South has invested more than £180,000 in the UK-designed and built Airblast bay. The bay features internal rubber-lined, galvanised walls and a steel-covered floor. It will re-use the steel grit, used to remove rust and paint from surfaces, up to 700 times, while the airflow system installed in the facility will extract waste dust particles into sealed bins for safe disposal. The facility, which measures 18m long and 5m high, is capable of holding most UK specification trucks and trailers.

Dave Hutchins, MC Group director said: “We noticed a gap in the market through the type of repairs we were seeing in our body and paintshop. Rather than outsourcing this work, offering it on-site means a more efficient service for customers.”
