A team from MC Truck and Bus in Thurrock, Essex will represent the UK and Ireland at the world final of Volvo’s global competition for workshop employees run every two years.

The team, named MC Hammers, includes team leader Ryan Garrett, John Walker, Stuart Hall and Darren Sladden.

They will travel to Curitiba, Brazil for the VISTA final on 26 June after winning the regional semi-final in Gothenburg, Sweden in April.

VISTA is open to all workshop employees in the Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses global service network and teams are tested on their ability to work together, solve problems and follow instructions.

The semi-final involved ten teams from the UK, and the MC Hammers finished ahead of Test Ticklers from the Hythe dealership of MC Truck and Bus in Kent and Carrot Crunchers from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, Felixstowe.

Karen Bailey, head of competence development at Volvo Group UK and Ireland said: “It has been a fantastic event. We do not get to credit and celebrate our dealer-based staff often enough and to see the cream of our technical, parts and customer service colleagues compete in this way has been a real honour.

“We know the MC Hammers will be exceptional representatives for the UK and Ireland in the World Final.”
