MD Aggregate Supplies puts four new Scania P450 XTs on the road

MD Aggregate Supplies has taken delivery of four new Scania P-series XT tippers.

The new 8x4 tippers, which have been specified with Thompson of Carlow bodies, were supplied by MV Commercial.

According to Mike Weatherall, who is transport manager at the aggregate and concrete specialist, the trucks were supplied in record time. Having been told by several suppliers that he would have to wait for a minimum of 12 months, MV Commercial delivered them in the promised three months.

“Given the supply challenges facing the industry, we were expecting delivery to take many months,” said Weatherall. “So we were over the moon when MV Commercial was able to fulfil the contract in more than half the time we had been quoted.

“The MV team stuck to their word and delivered everything they promised. They supplied the finished vehicles when we needed them and that’s really helped in the update of our fleet. This is the first time we’ve worked with MV Commercial and we’re very happy with the customer service. We plan to do more business with the company in 2023.”

The newcomers, which join seven vehicles in the MD Aggregate Supplies fleet, will work in Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Wales. They will be used to transport anything from dust products and MOT Type 1 aggregates to muck-away and large rocks, covering up to 80,000km per annum.

They have all been specified with the 450hp engine, which Weatherall said is a necessity for the terrain they’ll be operating in. “It’s quite hilly in some of the areas where we operate such as around the quarries in North Wales,” he explained.

Additional equipment includes PM Onboard weighing systems, cameras all-round, a pair of front and rear strobe lights, and two LED work lights at the rear.

They have been supplied on a full-service three-year contract hire agreements.
