Meachers Global Logistics has signed a "substantial" trunking partnership deal with TNT.
The news comes just weeks after the Southampton-based firm sealed a similar partnership with Red Funnel Distribution to support the company with its UK collections. This, according to Meachers, has been progressing well.
Meachers was reluctant to give a value to the TNT deal, but says its magnitude can be measured by the fact that the firm will run 25 articulated lorry movements a week trunking freight overnight between TNT's regional facility in Southampton and its national central sorting hub in the Midlands.
The firm remained tight-lipped over whether any other similar deals are in the pipeline, but said it was in the process of acquiring 20 new trailers.
"We are continuing to look at ways to collaborate with other industry partners," says Meachers' commercial director Gary Whittle.
He said the agreement was ideal as it brought in new efficiencies such as utilising the company's fleet by running them 24-hours a day.
Jon Hadley, general manager of TNT Southampton, added: "The company [Meachers] operates a fast, efficient and effective service and I look forward to working in partnership with the team."
Meachers says it has some 100 active clients on its books and runs a fleet of about 70 artics.
