UK tipper bodybuilder Boweld Truck Bodies has been purchased by Europe's largest tipper manufacturer Meiller for an undisclosed sum.

Making the announcement at Tip-ex 2017 in Harrogate, Meiller CEO Dr Daniel Bohmer (pictured, left) said: “With its excellent knowhow, reputation and loyal customer base, Boweld provides us with excellent access to the UK’s strong tipper market.

"It will serve as a strategic platform to expand our business and consolidate our position as European market leader. Boweld’s products are a great fit with our portfolio.”

These sentiments were echoed by Boweld director George Boden (pictured, right) who said: “This is great for Boweld, as it gives us access to Meiller’s hooks, skips and tipping trailers.”

Boweld’s UK sales manager Martin Hardman added: “It is also fantastic news for our customers, as it makes us a one-stop-shop.”

While it is likely that the hook-and skip-loaders will be badged as Meiller in the UK, tipping trailers may use Meiller chassis and Boweld bodies.

Boden, who along with brother Austin remains as a Boweld director, stressed that it remains business as usual at Boweld. “The only change will be more strength and access to a wider product range.”
