The first of 36 new Isuzu N75.190 7.5-tonners have been delivered to newspaper distributor Menzies Distribution, with a rigid F180.260 18-tonner also on the way - the first in Scotland. The 7.5-tonners feature Isuzu's Easyshift automatic transmission, as well as fast-track curtainsided bodies.
Stuart McLean, Menzies logistics manager, says: "We were originally attracted by the increased payload and fuel economy when we switched over to Isuzu, and these factors, along with the reliability they bring, has been the deciding factor in the latest purchase."
The next batch to be dispatched are currently at the coach builders getting their bodies and livery fitted, however, the arrival of the single 18-tonner does not mean a switch over to the marque at this weight just yet. "We currently run Ivecos at 18-26 tonnes and the Isuzu's arrival doesn't signify a major change at the moment," says McLean.
