Dereham, Norfolk-based fruit and vegetable merchant CC Wells has acquired a new 26-tonne Mercedes-Benz Antos from the Norwich branch of Orwell Truck and Van.
The Antos 2536 LnR ENA six-wheeler with ClassicSpace M-Cab is fitted with an insulated curtain-sided body and Thermo King refrigeration unit and its six-cylinder engine transmits 360hp via a Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 automated gearbox. There is also a steering rear-axle for enhanced manoeuvrability, engineered by Mercedes so it can also be lifted when running light, allowing the operator to reduce tyre wear.
The truck, which comes with an air management kit and alloy wheels, carries out day-time collections from growers in Lincolnshire, and makes nightly runs into London to New Covent Garden Market. It is the subject of a CharterWay contract hire agreement from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
Steve Pegrum, senior director at the family-owned firm said: “Orwell’s service is second-to-none, they do everything well. Truck sales executive Tony Simmons will always go the extra mile, while the workshop team appreciate that when a vehicle’s not on the road it’s costing its owner money, so can always be relied upon to do whatever it takes to keep us moving.”
