Mercedes-Benz dealership Orwell Truck & Van, has completed a major refurbishment of its Norwich site.

In addition to a new service and parts reception, and a van diagnostics unit, the site has been future-proofed with electric vehicle charging points.

Service manager Noel Crowther (pictured), said: “We’ve done this to ensure our Norwich branch can deliver the levels of customer support expected of the Mercedes-Benz marque in the coming years. We had been getting busier and busier before Coronavirus and felt customers needed these additional services and an enhanced system in terms of vehicle throughput. We wanted it to be as simple as possible for customers to deliver trucks and vans into us for service, and then make it equally simple for subsequent collections.”

The dealership remained open throughout the Coronavirus lockdown, successfully juggling the servicing and maintenance of the area’s emergency ‘blue light’ vehicles with its regular customers’ vehicles.

Recently appointed general manager Philip Claxton, said: “The pandemic has been a very difficult time for everyone. At the height of the epidemic, customers accepted happily that their vehicles might slip back a little in service timings if emergency services units needed our attention, and we were very grateful to them for their understanding. In any business, and especially one relying on transport, it’s all about people and trust. Our trucks and vans are often the core of customers’ businesses, and while getting them the right new and used vehicles is important, aftersales support is crucial.

“The business is beginning to rebuild now, with strong interest in new trucks and vans as well as our enlarged used vehicle offerings. We already had an outstanding team, now we have the facilities to deliver even higher quality back-up.”

The Orwell Truck & Van business in Norwich is one of nine branches in Motus Mercedes Commercials, a group that includes fellow Mercedes-Benz dealer group S&B Commercials, and which operates across East Anglia and North London.
