Mercedes-Benz dealers Enza and Road Range have merged to create a £160m truck and van business that will be rebranded Roanza. It will create an eight-strong dealer group operating across the North West and north Wales.

Enza Motors operates two dealerships in Manchester at Newton Heath and Trafford Park and one each in Stoke-on-Trent and Warrington, while Road Range has dealerships in Bootle, Deeside, Liverpool and Llandudno.

Having previously led management buyouts of their respective dealerships, the dealer principals Brian Kempson (Road Range) and Roy Reed (Enza) now become joint MDs of Roanza.

They will be in charge of a combined workforce of 400 with a turnover of nearly £160m, which will set it up for significant investment in new facilities and services.

Santander Corporate & Commercial provided £5.8m to help seal the deal.

Kempson said: “This exciting development underlines our confidence in, and commitment to, the long-term development of the Mercedes-Benz Truck and Van brands in the North West. It will allow us to share best practice to the benefit of customers and employees alike.”

Fellow MD Reed said the merger gives the company a greater capacity for investment. “That will allow us to open new facilities and improve existing ones.

“We look forward to developing our people and services, to ensure we’re best-placed to provide Mercedes-Benz CV operators with the industry’s finest levels of service,” he said.

Enza has been a Mercedes-Benz dealer since the manufacturer opened for business in the UK in the mid-1970s; Road Range was formed in 1980.
