Mercedes-Benz held its inaugural sales trainee graduation ceremony in Birmingham earlier this month for staff from dealerships across the UK.
The latest group to complete its 25-week programme included youngsters from Intercounty Truck and Van; Roanza Truck and Van; Caledonian Truck and Van; Bell Truck and Van; Euro Commercials; Mertrux Truck and Van; Marshall Truck and Van; and Ciceley Commercials.
The programme includes formal instruction at the Mercedes-Benz UK training centre in Milton Keynes, as well as on-the-job learning at dealerships. Candidates must also pass an independent assessment to secure professional qualifications.
Since 2011, when the programme was launched, approximately 50 people have qualified, including a former airhostess, a sous chef, an undertaker and a one-time manager of Legoland. Mercedes said it picks trainees based on personality and determination rather than truck industry knowledge.
