Mercedes evaluates 'taxi' option for Vito

The traditional London taxi may be gaining a new rival in the shape of the Mercedes-Benz Vito.

Among the features helping it to meet the requirements of the Public Carriage Office is a unique rear-wheel steering system, allowing it achieve the stipulated 25ft (7,620mm) turning circle.

Mercedes is monitoring demand before deciding whether this should be an option on van versions.
