Mercedes evaluates 'taxi' option for Vito

The traditional London taxi may be gaining a new rival in the shape of the Mercedes-Benz Vito.

Among the features helping it to meet the requirements of the Public Carriage Office is a unique rear-wheel steering system, allowing it achieve the stipulated 25ft (7,620mm) turning circle.

Mercedes is monitoring demand before deciding whether this should be an option on van versions.

Firm fined for fly-tipping on farmland

Worcester-based transport and haulage company Mid Developments has been found guilty of fly-tipping waste on farmland and fined £22,000 with £9,367 costs.
