Merchants Transport has taken two new Renault T High 6x2 tractor units on a five-year contract hire deal with RH Commercial Vehicles.

The Leicester-based general haulier has been expanding its fleet after recent strong growth.

RHCV’s Cossington dealership has been supporting Merchants since it switched to buying Renaults for the first-time last summer having moved away from Volvos. Merchants move a wide variety of products including  floor beams, lintels, concrete posts and fencing panels as well as potatoes and pottery goods for retailers and have chosen the Renault T High for its comfort and versatility.

Merchants MD, Jodie Fox, said: “We operate nationwide, which means the Renaults are also the homes and offices for our drivers during the working week.

"Since we moved brands last year, our drivers have been fighting over who gets the Renault trucks! They love the high spec of the vehicles because they offer optimum comfort levels and enable them to do their jobs to the best of their ability. The cab design also allows them to wake up feeling refreshed before embarking on their busy journey in a calm environment. We were delighted with the overall level of service received from RHCV who are big on the driver experience, and really look after us. The facilities and the team are very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, and it is a pleasure to do business with them.”

Merchants, which is in just its fourth year of business, currently operates a fleet of 12 with four Renault trucks, but plans to grow the fleet size further throughout 2022 as the business builds back up after Covid.
