Farming co-operative Openfield has appointed Michelin solutions to manage tyres for its fleet of 36, comprised of Scanias and Volvos, and 46 bulk tipper trailers.

Openfield’s three-year, price-per-kilometre Effitires deal replaces a transactional agreement with a competing premium tyre brand. Under the contract, Michelin solutions will inspect all tyres fitted to Openfield’s fleet on a monthly basis.

The tyre company will manage fitment and servicing through a network of local independent tyre dealers, regional chains, and nationwide supplier ATS Euromaster.

Michelin solutions will regroove the tyres and retread worn casings as well as provide UK-wide breakdown cover.

Openfield head of fleet Keith Hughes said: “Uptime is key, especially during the busy harvest season, and that’s what sold us on Michelin solutions’ Effitires package. Everything is geared towards keeping our fleet on the road, and productive.”
