Tipton, West Midlands-based West Mercia Sections has taken delivery of its first-ever new trucks - both Mercedes-Benz Antos 1824s - from the Wolverhampton branch of Midlands Truck and Van.
The company has always previously operated pre-owned trucks of various marques and the 18-tonners with ClassicSpace S-Cabs, 238hp engines and 28ft dropside bodies by Fred Smith and Son of West Bromwich, will transport rolled steel sections from its factory.
They are the subject of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services contract hire agreements and are expected to cover 50,000 miles a year each. Operations manager Kris Rivett said: “The contract hire agreement is competitively priced, and the off-balance sheet finance suits the gearing of the business right now.
“It also means, of course, that we can budget with confidence, knowing that our routine maintenance costs are covered.”
