Mini Clipper's new headquarters were opened by Pall-Ex founder Hilary Devey last week in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

The operator bought the 200,000ft2 former Gossard bra factory two years ago, initially turning the warehouse into an order fulfilment and small-part pick facility.

Speaking at the official opening, Mini Clipper MD Peter Masters told MT: "Our old premises were costing us £250,000 a year in rent and rates alone so it made sense to buy this facility. It has cost a small fortune, but when you know it's absolutely the right thing to do it does ease the pain."

He admits that "relocating during a global economic meltdown has been a challenge" but says the support of staff, customers and suppliers has made it "relatively easy".

"The security of our new site is vastly superior compared with our old HQ - we have 20 CCTV cameras and a secure entry system in place so no-one can just walk into our premises now," he says.
