Independent DAF dealer Motus Commercials has purchased F&G Commercials, adding to its existing dealer network.
Motus Commercials, who recently changed their name from Imperial Commercials, will add four DAF dealerships along with a commercial body-building operation and a vehicle repair centre from F&G.
The newly acquired sites in Manchester, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Oldham, bring Motus Commercials’ total number of DAF sites across the country to 29.
Motus Commercials managing director, Matt Lawrenson, said, “We know the DAF products and have developed a strong relationship with the manufacturer over many years, and the acquisition of F&G Commercials has been a carefully thought-out decision. I can assure customers and suppliers alike that it is our intention to build on the already solid support levels provided by F&G, overlaying those with our own group strengths and expertise.”
Lawrenson continued: “We are fortunate to have some great people across all six sites, and I am delighted to confirm that the dealership and repair centre teams have now transferred into the new Motus Commercials operations. The body-builder team has also moved, in this case to our sister division, Motus Vehicle Solutions where it joins two already highly successful, existing body-building operations.”
Frank Woodhead, who founded F&G Commercials with Glenn Stevenson 24 years ago, said, “It was not an easy decision to sell the business after so many years, but I do so with complete confidence in Motus to maintain the spirit of customer service that we had always fostered. Business has changed over the years, and, in these days of ever-larger organisations, I am sure Motus will look to channel and even enhance that spirit to the benefit of customers and staff alike.”
As well as Daf franchises, Motus Commercials operate three MAN sales and support sites, along with a number of LCV franchises including Ford, VW, Isuzu, Fiat and LDV.
