MV Commercial has supplied family-run firm Old Haulage with a fully refurbished Volvo FH crane truck (pictured above), mounted with a Cormach Series 75000 and fly jib.
Having worked with MV Commercial for more than 10 years, Old Haulage was confident in the company’s ability to quickly deliver this unit to secure a new business opportunity. The 32-tonne 8x2 truck will be used to install roof trusses on a job that previously required a mobile crane to complete.
Amanda Old, director at Old Haulage, said: “In the initial new business conversations we were told a flatbed body with heavy duty fly jib was needed for a new build project planned to start within a couple of months. Of course we looked at placing an order for a new vehicle, but the lead times were over 12 months!
“Thankfully, when we spoke to MV Commercial they had the exact truck we required in their ready to go stock. I’ve no doubt that had we ordered a new vehicle from scratch we would have lost out to another haulier due to the extended timeframe.”
As well as the refurbished FH, MV Commercial has also supplied a new 44-tonne Volvo FH 6x4 tractor unit, fitted with a heavy duty Palfinger PK 78002 crane. This vehicle replaces an older model in the company’s fleet of nine vehicles, which typically stay in service for around five years. The two new additions follow a 44-tonne Volvo FH 6x4, supplied last year and fitted with a HIAB X-HIPRO 858 crane.
Old added: “Thanks to its Airdrie facility, MV is really a one-stop-shop, meaning all the trucks can be liveried, while the tractors can also have the additional lights and airhorns we requested fitted on site. It simply means that the vehicles turn up ready to go, which is a huge timesaver for us.”
