New Actros for Mona Precast

A 6x2 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2546 MegaSpace has replaced a seven-year-old Mercedes Axor at concrete building block specialist Mona Precast. The truck, supplied by Road Range Commercials, is powered by a 460hp Euro-5 engine matched to Mercedes PowerShift 2 automated transmission.

"I don't spend nights away in the truck, which is a shame," says driver Malcolm Roberts, "the big cab would be a real home-from-home." The Actros pulls a refurbished brick and block trailer with a centrally-mounted crane and grab. It delivers to builders' merchants and construction sites in north and west Wales.

The Mercedes' clean engine appealed strongly to the Anglesey-based company, which is committed to using environmentally friendly production processes - it recently invested in a solar-power facility to cure its products, which are supplied to customers nationwide.
