New axle-overload warning system from RDS

RDS Technology has launched an axle-overload warning system, called Axlog Alpha.

The system includes an in-cab display unit that shows the load on each axle either as a percentage of the legal operating limit or the loaded axle weight in tonnes helping the driver to realise an axle is overloaded. An alarm sounds when the limit is breached. Weight limits are programmed in at the calibration stage.

There are two variants of the system, for spring and air suspension.

RDS also offers the Axlog Alpha Link, which can send axle load data to third-party fleet management software.

Heanor Haulage set to sell depot to Asda

Heanor Haulage is on the brink of selling its depot in Nottinghamshire to retail giant Asda and moving its operation to a new site. Heanor chairman Peter Searson says the deal depends on Asda getting planning permission for a new store on the Langley Mill site, but that Heanor has accepted Asda's offer. The amount the supermarket is paying has not been revealed.Searson says that it is possible that Heanor would stay at Langley Mill and simply move "into our backyard" to continue its operations.
