To make the DAF XD suitable for any application it’s now available with new additional cab and wheelbase options.

Fitted with the 6.7-litre PX-7 engine, the XD comes with wheelbase configurations up to 6.9m for customers requiring extra space. Cab options have been added to the 4x2 rigid truck to include DAF’s Sleeper Cab and Sleeper High Cab.

The 18-tonne truck can also be specified with the PACCAR MX-11 engine which is available in 300hp versions up to 450hp. The PX-7 engine is 600kg lighter and can deliver 230hp up to 310hp depending on which configuration the customer chooses. The vehicle is also paired with active and passive safety features providing good direct and indirect vision around the truck, a key requirement for urban distribution applications.

In addition to the Day Cab originally available with the XD, the two larger can options add higher levels of driver comfort and living space. The cabs feature a 70cm wide bunk with the thick mattress seen on in the larger DAF XF model. Inside, the driver has the ability to alter the seating and steering wheel position for the ideal posture over a long period of time.

Longer wheelbases in the range are better suited to distribution applications requiring large but lightweight goods. For example, the 6.9m wheelbase would be ideal for supermarket and retail deliveries.

Last year the DAF XD was awarded the International Truck of the Year Award, these new cab and wheelbase options add to the already well-established reputation of this capable distribution vehicle. DAF Trucks’ president Harald Seidel said at the time: “Winning the International Truck of the Year Award 2023 is a wonderful recognition for our DAF employees and dealers. It proves that the premium DAF XD sets the new industry standard for customers in vocational and distribution applications, offering first-class safety, efficiency and driver comfort.”
