New Fruehauf tippers for Pearn Wyatt & Son

Continuing a relationship that spans more than five decades, Pearn Wyatt & Son has taken delivery of two new Fruehauf tipper tippers.

The 70cu yard capacity sloper smoothsider tippers will be paired with Volvo FH tractor units. To date, 12 out of Pearn Wyatt & Son’s 14 tippers were supplied by Fruehauf, and one of its trailers that joined the fleet in 2004 is still in service. 

The Norwich-based farming and haulage company will use the tippers for corn, wheat, barley along with some aggregates in summer, and over the winter they will be put to work transporting sugar beet. Whilst these tippers were supplied from Fruehauf’s Ready-to-Go stock, Pearn Wyatt & Son also added a second-hand Fruehauf tipper a few months ago. 

Owner, Jonny Wyatt, said: “My father had Fruehauf tippers 50 years ago and we’ve always been happy with its trailers. They really stand the test of time. In our business, we work them hard, so the fact we have several trailers on the fleet that are more than 15 years old is testament to their quality.”

For ease of use, the tippers are fitted with remote-controlled electric sheets and tailboards which can be operated from inside the cab. The family-run business has trusted Fruehauf’s trailers for many years thanks to what Wyatt described as exceptional build quality, reliability and high payload capabilities.

Wyatt added: “The turnaround time was much better than expected, given the industry-wide supply shortage and long lead times. From order to delivery was just three months. We look forward to growing our relationship with Fruehauf for decades to come.”

Just down the road in Lincolnshire, Fruehauf’s trailers are manufactured at its 73-acre site in Grantham. The facility houses all sorts of specialist services including design, engineering, fabrication and livery application for several vehicles and components.
