Since its launch in August 2016, the new generation Scania has been a good seller in the UK market.
Now, the first used examples are beginning to trickle into the marketplace, such as this ex demonstrator R500 6x2 high-roof tag-axle with 2-pedal Opticruise, first registered in May 2017. David Morgan, sales director at Keltruck, said the tractor unit performed as expected on a successful seven-month trial with a customer who is negotiating for more vehicles.
"We will be having two to three more demos finishing during 2018, and we will also have 10 R450 high-roof new generation vehicles available on 15 March that are six months old,” he explained. “After these they will be scarce, and with lead times pushing out to July, they will be very attractive to operators who need trucks now.”
This 17-plate vehicle features a fridge, microwave, leather seats, air-conditioning, 610-litre fuel capacity and sliding fifth wheel. It has two years of its R&M package remaining, comes with a full service history and has clocked up 56,000km. Finance options are also available.
Morgan added: “We sold our S580 tag-axle demonstrator last year in minutes. We didn’t even advertise it. We have also sold our two R450 high-roof new generation demos for excellent money, partly due to their exclusivity and also because they were available immediately.”
According to Morgan, all new generation examples that come into the marketplace get snapped up quickly and the dealer gets a huge amount of enquiries for them. Of the three Keltruck has sold, all have gone to regular customers.
Morgan concluded: “The big thing is that they are tremendous on fuel. All new generation Scanias are equipped with a telematics package as standard and these prove what customers are achieving - staggering in some cases. We have sold many to conquest customers.”
