David G Davies and Sons of Glossop has placed the first order for the newly launched and uprated Daf XF 4x2 tractor unit from dealer F&G Commercials.

The 40-tonne XF530 FT with Super Space Cab is due to be delivered to the company in July. It will feature an uprated 530bhp MX13 engine, ZF TraXon gearbox, front axle air suspension and Exclusive Line cab-interior specification.

The model was launched alongside an uprated CF at the CV Show last week by Daf president Preston Feight. The new-model CF and XF rigid and tractor line-up has 7% lower fuel consumption due to engine and gearbox improvements, new high-efficiency rear axles with faster gear ratios, advanced powertrain software and cab aerodynamic aids.

David G Davies and Sons director Chris Davies, who operates nine Dafs including an XF Super Space Cab, said: “I was invited to the CV Show by the Daf dealer, F&G Commercials, and I just had to have one.

"The new model looks superb, but the real developments have been made under the cab. Our existing Dafs all perform well, and I’m really excited about seeing this one in action. One thing will stay the same, and that’s the outstanding back-up I receive from F&G Commercials. The product and dealer support is a perfect fit for my company.”
