New Iveco artic for boat haulier

Plymouth-based South West Boat Transport has taken delivery of a new artic to transport boats about 15 tonnes in weight and up to 39ft long across the UK and mainland Europe.

The custom-built Iveco Eurocargo 230E25T/P, which was converted by the engineering division at North East Truck and Van, will be used on trips to Scandinavia and Greece.

It will operate with a bespoke boat trailer manufactured by Wheelbase Engineering and is expected to cover up to 50,000 miles a year.

Michael Whelan, owner of South West Boat Transport, says: "Boat transportation is a specialist business and a lot of planning went into getting the specification right.

"The high roof sleeper cab will also mean significantly greater comfort," he adds. "This is particularly important as it's not uncommon for our drivers to spend up to two weeks away at a time."

Crossways O-licence rejected over phoenix concerns
