The 2018 Sprinter has been given a new front grille with narrower headlights.
On the inside there is an all-new dash layout, with a centre console harbouring brand new connectivity hardware and software called MBUX which was first seen on the brand new Mercedes A-Class, launched last week.
The current Mercedes Sprinter will remain in production for the time being, and will continue to be built alongside the new model on the firm's production line in Dusseldorf. For quality used Sprinter vans, search the Commercial Motor classifieds.
The new Mercedes Sprinter will get a range of engine and transmission options including the 7G-tronic automatic gearbox. Power will range from 113hp to 188hp.
More than 3.3 million Sprinter vans have been sold since it was first launched in 1995, with the new model the third major update to the range and the first since 2006.
Front-wheel-drive will be available for the first time in the Sprinter, providing an 80mm lower loading height and 50kg of extra payload. Rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vans will also be available.
Mercedes also plans to launch an electric version of the new Sprinter.
The eSprinter will arrive in 2019, and will have floor mounted batteries to maintain the diesel versions maximum 17 cubic metre load volume.
