Five new T480 High Turbo Compound 6x2 tractor units have been delivered to Multimodal Logistics’ Felixstowe headquarters. These are the company’s first Renault vehicles which were supplied by Renault Truck Commercials.

Tim Wray, MD at Multimodal Logistics said: “Our operation has witnessed substantial growth, doubling our fleet size since 2019. After running a competitor’s model during this period, we felt it opportune to explore other brands in the market to ensure that our trucks are delivering optimum performance to our business.”

The T480s were added to the fleet of 56 trucks thanks to their well equipped cabs and good fuel economy. A smart torque control system ensures the vehicle remains within the best range for fuel efficiency for as long as possible. The truck also employs map based data including topography to shift into the correct gear for the road.

Inside, the cab features a heated and ventilated driver’s seat, leather steering wheel, microwave and memory-foam mattress topper. Wray said: “We selected the T480 High TC for its driver appeal. The drivers are out all week tramping and we wanted a high specification vehicle with all the creature comforts. The T-High cab fits the bill perfectly and provides a roomy working and living space.”

Multimodal Logistics has taken the trucks on a 48-month contract and maintenance will be taken care of by Renault Truck Commercials in Felixstowe. The T480s are equipped with Renault Truck’s Optifleet system to monitor the vehicles and drivers.

Wray added: “Renault Trucks’ Optifleet system is easy to use and allows us to monitor driving behaviours and then pinpoint areas for improvement; it gives us all the information and data we need to run a productive fleet.

“The vehicles are hitting their targets and performing well on fuel, achieving in excess of 11mpg, which is in the top end of fuel figures for the fleet. Our initial impressions of the dealership have been excellent too, they are forward-thinking, and customer focused, and we look forward to working with the team.”
