Huddersfield-based Hanson Logistics has purchased its first ever Volvo, a new FH 540 Globetrotter XL 6x2 pusher axle tractor.

The truck, which has been specified with I-Shift Dual Clutch, will operate exclusively on the firm’s long-standing contract with Baerlocher UK, alternating between pulling a WG Tankers power tanker to deliver chemical products, and an SDC curtainsider for palletised goods. “After glowing recommendations from our drivers and contacts at WG Tankers, the move to Volvo was an easy decision,” said Mark Henighan, operations director at Hanson Logistics.

The high spec truck, which was supplied by Jason Robinson, area sales manager at Crossroads Truck & Bus in Birstall, is equipped with I-See predictive cruise control. Other options ticked include the Drive++ package, Single Bed Living package, and a Media package with navigation. It also has the Active Safety package, which features Adaptive Cruise Control with Emergency Brake Assistance, Lane Changing Support, Driver Alert Support and Lane Keeping Support.

The family-run firm, which started in 1848, has taken the truck on a five-year operating lease through Volvo Financial Services.

Volvo will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo at NAEC Stoneleigh (30 June to 2 July). Register now for FREE.
