One of the first new-series Volvo FM rigid, 44-tonne GTW drawbars in the UK has entered service with Holmes Chapel, Cheshire-based agricultural feeds and farm services specialist Massey Bros (Feeds).

The 6x2 tag-axle FM is equipped with Volvo’s 12.8-litre, D13K Euro-6 engine rated at 493hp, I-Shift automated gearbox and Durabrite wheels.

The curtain-sided bodywork is by Cartwright and mountings for a Manitou forklift are fitted to both the prime mover and the new trailer.

It will mainly deliver bagged animal feed products from the firm’s mill to farms in north and mid Wales.

Thomas Hardie Commercials in Middlewich supplied the truck, and it will be maintained at the dealership on a five-year R&M contract.
