NFT has won a contract with Manor Fresh to distribute vegetables to retailer Marks & Spencer. The £1.3m a year contract, agreed in March but as yet unsigned, will use 14 dedicated vehicles, mostly on chilled temperature deliveries, but a further 15% will be ambient deliveries, says chief executive David Frankish.

The Manor Fresh contract was won from Gist Primary at Spalding, with Frankish adding that NFT is gaining market share from its competitors, estimating a 30% share in the chilled primary market. The move to the eastern region - Manor Fresh is based at Holbeach, Lincolnshire -could bring many opportunities for NFT, Frankish tells Motor Transport. "There are a number of potential customers in that area. We could over the next two or three years, gain a number of important contracts," he says.
