Nightfreight has won a three-year contract worth £0.5m with home shopping retailer JD Williams.

Under the agreement, Nightfreight will handle the collection and delivery of a diverse range of items such as white goods, home electronics, and furniture.

Nightfreight secured the contract after developing an IT solution that would provide JD Williams with total visibility of all orders from 15 manufacturers via its own in-house customer service system.

John Cusick, commercial manager, distribution, at JD Williams says: "The Nightfreight system will allow our call centre to provide accurate details regarding the whereabouts and progress of orders to transform the overall customer experience."

Paul Tyson, director of Nightfreight's Deliver2Home business, adds: "We are committed to working closely with our customers to develop supply chain solutions that meet their precise needs and enhance the service provided to the consumer. With JD Williams, the clever use of our IT systems helped us to add significant value to their customer's home delivery experience."

The logistics firm's Deliver2Home national two-man home delivery service will mange the contract, handling around 200 deliveries per week to addresses across the UK.
