Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services has been appointed by wine seller Nicolas to handle the distribution of products to its 80 UK stores.

The French logistics giant will collect around 3,000 pre-assembled store orders every year from Nicolas's Paris warehouse. Cargo will then be delivered to Norbert's specialist services depot in Rochester, Kent, where it is consolidated into trailers for UK deliveries.

Two-person teams will be used to ensure customers receive the premium wines in pristine condition. Following drop-offs, the empty roll cages are collected and transported back to Paris on the return leg of the journey.

"Norbert Dentressangle has the specialist expertise and the infrastructure to provide a highly accurate and well-planned distribution service to our retail outlets, but also within a shared-user network," says Benoit Thouvenin, operations director at Nicolas.
