Cheshire firm BT Aggregates is to be liquidated blaming the rising price of fuel and vehicles breakdowns.

The haulier, which was established in May 2006 with 20 vehicles, ceased trading in late November with the loss of four jobs. It appointed liquidators at The P&A Partnership after two attempts at setting up a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) were turned down by creditors.

The Stockport-based haulier appointed joint liquidators Gareth Rusling and John Russell, on 20 December 2012 to assist with the winding-up of the company, which owed £85,000.

Rusling said: “The business began by delivering aggregates but following a contraction in this market, it diversified into delivering other goods. The recession, combined with vehicle breakdowns and rises in the price of fuel, meant the business was no longer viable.”

Its statement of company’s affairs, published to Companies House, reveals that creditors included Stockport haulier Chris Bennett (Heavy Haulage), which was owed £10,000; vehicle parts supplier CV Parts, which was owed £13,500; Derbyshire tanker firm Lomas Distribution, of which was owed £1,490 and on-board weighing system manufacturer RTB Weighing, which it owed £2,200.

BT Aggregates, which had an O-licence to run eight vehicles and 12 trailers, was expected to face a deficiency of £526,125 in regard to meeting the sum owed to creditors, according to the statement.
