North Yorkshire truckstop plans delayed

The Secretary of State's decision to call a Public Inquiry into plans for a truckstop in North Yorkshire means drivers are facing a 12-mile detour to park until a decision is reached.

Exelby Services wants to move from its current site near Londonderry to Leeming Bar because the upgrading of the A1 to motorway status will leave the old lorry park difficult to reach.

The local council backed the plans for the 108-space new site, but now the government wants a Public Inquiry into the truckstop.
