Liverpool-based Northover Heavy Haulage has been placed into administration. The company, which is registered at Companies House as Hunterstrong Engineering, had been trading under a Company Voluntary Arrangement.
The haulier’s future had been placed into jeopardy at the turn of the year after TC for the North-west Beverley Bell revoked its O-licence from 27 January 2014.
She also disqualified MD Craig Northover from holding an O-licence for seven years [from the same date], and stated he had lost his repute. Bell also disqualified Northover from acting as a transport manager in all EU member states for an indefinite period.
Speaking to Commercialmotor.com, Northover said he had continued to trade from the company’s Heysham Road location in Liverpool while he awaited the outcome of an appeal against the decision.
However he had been forced to scale back the business and had ended operations at two other locations: South Moons Moat in Redditch, Worcestershire and Newcastle.
“We had been struggling as we were trading in a CVA but we were coming out the other side,” Northover told CM. “However, I’ve reached the point where I couldn’t afford to carry on, to keep fighting.”
Northover Heavy Haulage had an O-licence for eight vehicles and eight trailers. The company’s administration, which begun on 10 June, is being handled by Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Stanley at Begbies Traynor.
Founded in 1991, Northover, operated across the UK and Europe, offering heavy haulage, private escort, project management and machinery installation services to customers.
Assets on offer include a range of tractor units, light vehicles, trailers and specialist heavy load trucks.
