Truck operators have been given an insight into the Mercedes-Benz range of products and services at Northside Truck & Van’s first customer experience day.

During the event, held at the manufacturer’s Wentworth Park complex, near Barnsley, Northside hosted 45 local truck operators - a mix of established and prospective customers - who met sales and aftersales staff from across Northside’s seven branches.

They attended presentations and in-cab activities including a practical demonstration of Active Brake Assist 4, which can bring a vehicle to a halt without braking input from the driver. The dealer also discussed the funding support available from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, and vehicles marketed through its Approved Used programme.

Director Lesley O’Brien, who runs Bradford-based Freightlink Europe in partnership with her husband Kevin, said: “It was great to have a chance to meet members of the Northside team, as well as fellow operators, in a relaxed setting.

“We don’t run any Mercedes-Benz trucks at the moment. However, having seen the quality of the vehicles and learned more about the aftersales support Northside can offer, there’s every chance that could change in the future.”

Truck sales manager at Northside, Ian Farrar said: “We outlined the advantages offered by the cutting-edge technology available on today’s Mercedes-Benz trucks, including Fleetboard telematics and the innovative Uptime system, which can reduce unplanned downtime and even predict a potential breakdown before it’s happened.”
