Kent vehicle recovery operator NY Recovery has taken delivery of a new 8x2 DAF CF fitted with an 8.0-tonne sliding bed Hydraloader fitted by Roger Dyson Group.

Neil Yates, MD of the Snodland-based firm, says the Hydraloader HR8000 SLa (Super-Low approach), which has a 5-degree loading angle, is "completely over the top" but its versatility makes it a highly productive addition to the fleet.

"We have a strong image and I like trucks that are a bit different and 'in your face'. The crane has a phenomenal reach and lifting capacity, so from a recovery point of view we'll never use it to anything like its full potential," he says.

The winch on the sliding bed can pull 6.1 tonnes, it has a 4.0-tonne second vehicle lift, and a 50 tonne/metre PM50025 five-extension crane that extends to 14.35m.

"However, we also operate a plant transport division that does a lot of crane work, much of which involves moving big generators," continues Yates. "Its all-round capability means we'll be able to utilise our new Dyson equipment on this side of the business as well."
