A Lanarkshire tipper truck operator has had its O-licence revoked with immediate effect after he failed to turn up for a public inquiry.

Joan Aitken, TC for Scotland, called Chriss Robert Campbell Kemp to a hearing in Edinburgh on 29 April to consider a serious prohibition with one of his trucks, as well as financial standing considerations.

Kemp's company, based in Motherwell, had been granted authority for two vehicles in October 2009 but a subsequent investigation by VOSA found it had no written driver reporting system and no forward planning system in place.

Kemp told the TC's office he would not be attending the hearing and would return his licence document and discs as he "no longer operated vehicles".
