Opex Logistics has expanded its trailer fleet with further investment in equipment from Krone Trailer UK, adding a mix of Profi Liner HD flatbeds, FS10 skeletal container carriers and Profi Liner curtainsiders.
The Bristol-based operator has worked with Krone for almost eight years, with the latest additions forming part of its ongoing fleet replacement and expansion strategy.
Opex provides specialist transport and freight-handling services across the UK and Europe, supporting sectors including aerospace and engineering. Its work often involves non-standard and time-critical loads, requiring a fleet capable of handling containerised freight, palletised goods and abnormal cargo.
While the relationship initially centred on curtainsiders, it has broadened in recent years. Krone has now supplied more than 30 Profi Liner curtainsiders, alongside three FS10 skeletal trailers and a number of Profi Liner HD flatbeds.
The FS10 skeletal trailers feature extendable chassis configurations, allowing operators to accommodate different container lengths while maintaining stability for heavy-duty work.
Profi Liner curtainsiders are equipped with Krone’s Multi Lock side rave system, offering load restraint points at 10cm intervals along the trailer length to increase flexibility when securing varied loads.
Meanwhile, the Profi Liner HD flatbeds remain a core part of the fleet, with reinforced chassis construction and high-capacity axles designed for operation at maximum UK weights. The trailers are used across a range of applications, including steel, palletised goods and irregular loads.
Across the range, trailers benefit from Krone’s cathodic dip coating process, aimed at improving durability and supporting a 10-year warranty against corrosion perforation.
Peter Scrivin, director at Opex Logistics, said: “They have performed consistently over time. They are reliable, versatile trailers and well suited to the varied and demanding work we undertake.
“As our operation has grown, the ability to expand the fleet with different trailer types has been important in giving us the flexibility to meet our customers’ needs. We have also had good support from Krone Trailer UK, both at the point of purchase and in service.”
Opex said the continued investment reflects a focus on improving fleet flexibility, load security and operational efficiency as it develops its service offering across multiple sectors.
