Pall-Ex has introduced full real-time proof of delivery (POD) into its network.
An SMS-based POD system became mandatory for members of the pallet network at the start of March. It allows POD information to be updated in real time via the network’s cloud-based IT system Twine, allowing all parties to see the status of consignments.
Tying into this, Pall-Ex has also made available a smartphone App that allows customers to locate up to ten consignments at once and features location mapping.
Clients of the pallet network can also install a tracking widget on their own websites allowing tracing of freight consignments via their unique tracking numbers.
Sean Sherwin-Smith, Pall-Ex IT director, said: “Knowing where orders are located and when they will arrive is one of the main points of contention in customer service for so many business and products.
“Depots and customers alike have commented on the positive impact our real-time POD isd already having upon their business.”
