Pall-Ex has officially launched a new northern hub, operated by recent network arrival and Cumbrian haulier RJ Murray & Son.
The Mayor of Carlisle, Councillor David Wilson, was on hand to cut the ribbon and open the 40,000 sq ft facility. Situated in Carlisle, the hub is based on a 30-acre site close to the M6.
It replaces a smaller facility run from 2010 by former network member Stalkers Transport. Stalkers had itself superseded the network's first northern hub, also based in Carlisle, which was launched in 2008 in support of Pall-Ex's main Leicestershire hub and operated directly by the pallet network.
Adrian Russell, MD of Pall-Ex, said: “The Pall-Ex northern hub is a very exciting development for our business and customers. It’s already providing us with a very cost effective solution for moving freight throughout northern England, Scotland and, in time, to Ireland."
C Butt became the latest Pall-Ex member earlier this month.
