Palletways will start trunking to Europe next year

Palletways says it will start trunking from the UK into its Spanish and Italian networks in the first quarter of next year. The firm says this is its next big step as it aims to consolidate its position as the leading UK and European pallet network. Currently it sends between 100 and 150 pallets per day from its Fradley, Staffs hub to its Central European network based in Nijmegen, Holland.

It hopes to be able to send similar volumes into its hubs in Madrid and Bologna when the service launches next year. If there is sufficient demand, it may also launch line-hauls between Bologna, Madrid and Nijmegen. Managing director, member network Craig Hibbert says: "A pallet could be going from Manchester to Madrid, Milan or Munich, it doesn't matter, we can get it there."

Bartrums to build new depot

Bartrums Road Services is looking to build new premises adjacent to its Eye, Suffolk site, that it recently relocated to in full. Director Robert Bartrum says the new depot will serve the firm's Pallet-Track operations and one of its paper distribution contracts. Iveco launches the 4x4 Massif

Iveco has launched the Massif 4x4 - a rebadged version of the Santana. The vehicle is loosely based on the Land Rover Discovery - which Iveco-owned Santana used to build under licence. The Spanish-built Massif uses an Iveco driveline, and will be offered with a choice of 146hp or 176hp. Buyers can choose between van, pick-up, chassis cab, or car derivatives. It will hit UK dealers from the third quarter of 2008.

Boalloy administrators discussing sale options

Collapsed bodybuilding and trailer firm Boalloy looks set to be sold off and broken up by administrator Pricewater-houseCoopers (PWC). PWC says "serious" discussions are ongoing with a number of manufacturers and other interested parties with regard to the Taut-liner trailer brand and the Fastruck express bodybuilding operation.
