Parcelforce launches palletised overseas service

Parcelforce has launched a palletised overseas delivery service to offer customers a cheaper rate where speed of delivery is not a priority.

The parcel delivery arm of Royal Mail Group is offering customers a new product called Global Bulk Direct, which allows firms to package multiple overseas shipments into a single pallet, rather than sending each parcel individually.

The pallet is broken down on arrival in its destination country, with individual parcels then dispatched to their final delivery point.

A Parcelforce spokesman tells MT: "Royal Mail has overseas contracts and relationships with trusted partners that will take care of the dispatching and delivery of parcels.

"However, British customers will have peace of mind because we can track and trace each consignment from the UK."

Parcelforce claims the service, which takes between two and eight days, will create "significant" cost savings for clients, prioritising price over speed. It can be used for all deliveries to "major destinations" across the world, the company says.

"We're continuing to listen to our customers and support their needs as they look to drive their business through increased exports," says Simon Batt, international director at Parcelforce.
