Penfold Verrall has added new Thompsons-bodied Iveco X-Way tippers and tipper grabs to its fleet. The Iveco tippers will be used in Penfold Verrall’s fleet and its subsidiary HGS Southern will utilise the tipper grabs.

The tippers have Loadmaster Lite bodies and Edbro front end tipping gear. The grabs feature a similar specification with shorter bodies and add Harsh underfloor lifting gear and Epsilon cranes.

Penfold Verrall director, Adam Bish, said: “For many years, we’ve relied exclusively on Thompsons for our tipper bodies. Their strength, reliability and durability is simply unmatched, and whilst we have operated various makes and models of chassis, they all get fitted with a Thompsons Loadmaster. In our business, there’s simply nothing to touch them.”

Alongside the Loadmaster bodies, the trucks are fitted with cantilever sheeting systems and heavy duty PVC tarpaulins. At the back of the vehicles are enclosed rear chassis endplates and additional reversing and strobe lighting to improve safety. The vehicles also have AutoLoc tailgates.

Bish said: “We have to keep moving forward and we’re obviously pleased that both our chassis and their Loadmaster bodies are effectively state of the art in tippers today. Over the years we have established a particularly strong relationship with Thompsons, both through their products and their aftersales service and support. We are confident that these trucks will be highly successful in whatever way we need to use them. So much so that we have more on order.”

Penfold Verrall is a Sussex-based specialist in muckaway, earthworks, landfill, quarry restoration and recycling. The company was founded in the wake of World War I with a horse and a tipping cart. Now, more than 100 years later the company is investing in the latest tipping equipment to keep its fleet up to date.

Thompsons and Iveco will both be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo, which takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh between 4-6 June. Registrations are now open, so book your free place now!
