Pollock (Scotrans) has put the first Euro-6 Daf XF in Scotland featuring the new 10.8 litre PACCAR MX-11 engine into service.
It is using the 440 bhp truck - a 6x2 FTG XF440 model plated at 44 tonnes - on its contract with Albion, transporting products from the axle manufacturer's factory in Scotstoun, Glasgow to the Leyland Trucks plant in Lancashire.
The vehicle, supplied by Lothian Daf, features a Super Space cab as well as AS-tronic automated transmission, and is expected to cover 170,000 kilometres a year.
Operations manager Mark Jackson said: "As well as looking to make operational savings, we will also be weighing up how the additional capital cost that Euro-6 involves measures against the environmental benefits that it delivers."
