North Yorkshire haulier Quinns Transport has knocked £700 off its insurance bill after it bought a Mercedes-Benz Actros specced with the manufacturer’s optional Safety Pack.
Owner Liam Quinn said the automatic emergency braking performance (Mercedes’ Active brake Assist 4) was unbelievable.
“I was left in no doubt that this technology can save lives, either by preventing an accident, or dramatically reducing the effects of a collision,” he said.
The Safety Pack built into the Actros also includes Proximity Control Assist.
Quinn added: “My insurance agent took it on board totally. He acknowledged that I was taking the issue of safety seriously, that I had reduced the risk of my truck being involved in an accident, and agreed this should be reflected in the cost of my insurance.”
